Analysis of Smoking and Vascular Risk Factor Impact on Progression from Mild Lead Investigator: Stephen Moelter Institution : University of the Sciences in Philadelphia E-Mail : s.moelte@usciences.edu Proposal ID : 91 Proposal Description: Smoking has become a more widely accepted risk factor in the development of Alzheimer???s disease (AD). Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) has been recognized as a transitional clinical stage between normal cognition and AD. This study will examine the effect of smoking on the rate of progression from MCI to AD. NACC data will be assessed longitudinally to investigate whether smoking increases the rate of conversion from MCI to AD and the extent of contribution to this risk from other cardiovascular and vascular risk factors.
